At Turning Point, we are here to help your child grow and thrive. We offer Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA), Speech and Language Therapy, and Occupational Therapy (OT). These can be provided individually or as a coordinated program, designed just for your child’s unique needs.
We support children (ages 16 months to 16 years) with a wide range of developmental, communication, and behavioural needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), speech and language delays, sensory challenges, and other learning differences. Whether your child needs help with everyday skills, communication, or behaviour, we are here to guide and support them—and you—every step of the way.
Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) is a personalized, strengths-focused approach that uses positive, supportive strategies to build skills, foster independence, and grow confidence. It helps children enhance communication, social interaction, and daily living skills, while celebrating progress in ways that are meaningful to them.
Our speech-language pathologists/assistants and communication disorder assistants work closely with children to help them communicate more effectively. This may include improving speech sounds, building vocabulary, strengthening sentence skills, and developing social communication. Every session is tailored to your child’s abilities, age, and personality, so learning feels both fun and rewarding.
Occupational Therapy helps children gain the skills they need for everyday activities like dressing, feeding, writing, and playing. It also supports sensory processing, fine motor skills, and self-regulation. Our therapists make sessions engaging and playful while building skills that help children feel capable and confident in their daily lives.
Therapist Assistants (OTA’s)
Our individualized therapy is delivered and overseen by a dedicated team of qualified professionals, with supervisors certified by their respective regulatory colleges. In each domain, therapy is provided by trained therapists under the direct supervision of certified specialists—such as Supervised Instructor Therapists guided by Registered Behaviour Analysts (Ontario), Speech-Language Pathologist Assistants supported by Speech-Language Pathologists, and Occupational Therapist Assistants supervised by Occupational Therapists.
This means that our therapists from different specialties—ABA, Speech and Language Therapy, and Occupational Therapy—work together as one team. They share insights, coordinate goals, and design strategies that complement each other so your child’s learning is connected across all areas of development.
For example, if your child is working on communication in speech therapy, our ABA team will incorporate those skills into behaviour programs, while our OT team supports the motor or sensory aspects that help make communication easier. This collaboration ensures that your child receives well- rounded support, progress happens more smoothly, and every skill learned is reinforced in different ways.
We begin with a warm intake to learn about your child and your family’s priorities. Through observation, standardized tools, and your input, we complete a thorough assessment. Together, we create meaningful, functional goals that support your child’s growth at a pace that feels right.
Every child is different. Some benefit from a few hours of therapy each week, while others need more intensive support. We will work with you to create a schedule that balances your child’s needs with your family routine.
Many families can access funding through private insurance or government programs like OAP- Ontario Autism Program). As of 2024, ABA services are regulated through the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts of Ontario (CPBAO), which means that some private insurance plans now recognize and cover ABA supervised by qualified practitioners (regulated behaviour analysts -RBA). We understand that navigating funding can be overwhelming, so we are happy to guide you through available options and assist with applications where possible.
Absolutely. Your involvement is a key part of your child’s success. We encourage parents and caregivers to join sessions when possible, learn strategies to use at home, and stay updated on progress. To keep you informed, we provide session notes within 24 hours after each appointment, so you know exactly what was worked on, what progress was made, and how you can support learning between sessions. This teamwork helps your child’s learning carry over into everyday life.
Getting started is simple. You can reach out by phone, email, or through our website form. We will answer your questions, explain what to expect, and guide you step-by-step through the process so you feel confident and supported from day one.
